In the northern Henan region of Henan, red-leaf winter peach shows pink buds on March 25, begins flowering on April 1, with pink flowers, 5 petals, a flower diameter of 3.5-4 cm, and a flowering period of 7-10 days. Flowers and leaves grow simultaneously; the pink peach blossoms and purplish-red peach leaves form the only red scenic line worth viewing in spring. As the seasons and temperatures change, the purplish-red peach leaves gradually turn copper-green from the base upward, but the new shoots and new leaves at the top remain purplish-red, forming on the same branch lower leaves that are copper-green

As the seasons and temperatures change, the purplish-red peach leaves gradually turn copper-green from the base upward, but the new shoots and new leaves at the top remain purplish-red, forming on the same branch lower leaves that are copper-green and upper leaves that remain red; this scenery can last until leaf fall.

The growth pattern of red-leaf winter peach is as follows: after summer begins, when the fruit grows to the size of an egg yolk, it stops developing, and throughout the summer its development is extremely slow, with almost no visible growth. After Mid-Autumn, when the weather turns cool, the fruit begins normal development and growth. In mid-October the fruit begins to color, and after the Start of Winter in early November the fruit ripens. The fruit is nearly round with a regular shape; fruit on the sunny side takes on a bright purplish-red color. Fruit weight is 100-150 g, with the largest fruit reaching 200 g. The flesh is white, the texture is fine, the pit is small, and it is crisp, sweet and delicious, with a sugar content of 20%-24%, truly a rare treasure. Red-leaf winter peach has strong adaptability and is not choosy about soil; except for saline-alkali land and waterlogged land, it can be planted anywhere, and can also be grown in pots for ornamental viewing. After 2 years of planting it can bloom and bear fruit, and it has the characteristics of ornamental flowers, ornamental leaves, ornamental fruit and edible use, with extremely high ornamental and economic value. It is a rare new late-maturing peach variety worth promoting.
