Why is the Chinese Imperial Jujube hailed as the star of century jujube varieties?
After decades of careful cultivation by Liu Daijie and others, the Chinese Imperial Jujube has become a highly prized fresh-eating variety among jujubes today, with the largest single fruit weighing 108 grams, brilliant color, crisp and tender flesh, abundant juice and sweet flavor, a small pit and thin skin, and an edible rate of over 96%.
The Chinese Imperial Jujube has strong stress resistance, is not limited by soil or climate, and has wide adaptability. The fruit-setting period of this variety (from flowering to fruit drop) is about 120 days. More than 50% of grafted seedlings bear fruit in the year they are planted, all bear fruit in the second year, with a yield of 6-8 kg per plant, and enter the full production period in the third year. Calculated at a row spacing of 1.5*2.5, the yield per mu is more than 2000 kg of jujube fruit, and the income is very considerable.
