Detailed Introduction to the Dongyin No.1 Jujube Variety
Dongyin No.1 fresh-eating jujube is an extremely late-maturing variety. The jujube tree grows vigorously. Two years after planting, the average height is between 2.3 and 2.5 m, the trunk height from the ground is 10 cm, and the diameter generally reaches about 8 cm. It has low soil requirements and wide adaptability, and is very suitable for mountain planting. It has extremely strong drought resistance and cold tolerance. It can be planted in sandy wasteland, mountainous land, loess hills, 5-30° slopes, and mildly saline-alkali land. Apart from heavy oil clay and low-lying fields, which are unsuitable, it can be planted in all other conditions. Plant about 75 trees per mu. The first flowers of the flowering period generally appear around May 15, and the maturity period is from mid-October to mid-November. From the start of picking to the end, it lasts about 40 days. At the latest, the fruit can remain on the tree until around December 5 for harvest. The jujube fruit growth period is about 50-180 days. The jujube fruit is flat and round in shape, like a small Guoguang apple, and is smooth and even. The average single fruit weight is 30-40 g, with the largest reaching more than 100 g. After maturity, the fruit skin is bright red, and when fully ripe it becomes brownish red. The jujube fruit has good quality, thin skin, crisp texture, abundant juice, and no residue. According to testing by the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the soluble total sugar content is 26.44%. The fruiting rate has strong adaptability. It is self-pollinating and does not require a pollinator tree. In the year of planting, 80% of trees bear fruit in the same year, and by the 3rd year the yield per mu reaches 1000 kg. It is most suitable for planting in the Jiangnan region. The usual planting time is from December to before March of the following year. It has strong disease resistance and is especially resistant to jujube witches' broom disease.
