Winter Snow Honey Peach is a rare new extremely late-ripening peach variety
Winter Snow Honey Peach is a rare new extremely late-ripening peach variety selected and bred in 1986 from Qingzhou Honey Peach. With its unique advantages, it has attracted widespread attention and welcome from numerous fruit tree experts and the vast number of fruit growers. This peach is currently the valuable variety resource among late-ripening peaches in China with the latest ripening period, the strongest storage tolerance, and the best quality, and it has broad development prospects. 1. Extremely late ripening period. It ripens in early to mid-November, that is, between the Beginning of Winter and Light Snow. The fruit can tolerate slight frost. As long as frost damage does not occur, it can remain hanging on the branches without falling or rotting, and it is currently the latest-ripening peach variety in China. 2. Excellent quality. The single fruit weighs 110 grams, with a light green ground color and rose-red on the sunny side. The flesh is milky white, semi-clingstone, fine and delicate in texture, fragrant, crisp, and sweet, with an edible rate of 96.5%. It contains 18-20% soluble solids and is rich in multiple trace elements such as iron, calcium, magnesium, and zinc. It is nutritious and of superior quality, and can be called the best among peaches. 3. Extremely long storage period. This variety is extremely tolerant of storage and transportation. It can be stored until New Year's Day in an ordinary room, and can be stored until the Spring Festival in a low-temperature cold storage, still maintaining bright color, crisp and sweet flesh, and basically unchanged quality. This is a major breakthrough in the history of peach storage worldwide, ending the history of thousands of years in which peaches were not storage-tolerant and no fresh peaches were supplied on the market at New Year's Day and the Spring Festival. 4. Wide adaptability and strong high yield. This variety is drought-resistant, cold-resistant, and tolerant of poor soil, and can be planted in plains and mountainous areas. It forms flower buds easily, has a high fruit-setting rate, and does not require pollinizer trees. The yield per mu is 2500-3000 kg, with high economic benefits.
