What to do about fruit drop in jujube trees in summer? Growers need to prevent it in advance
Regulate the distribution of nutrients so that they flow more concentratedly to the jujube fruits.
Measures:
1. Bend branches to open the angle. For relatively upright branches, change their direction by propping, pulling and other methods to disperse apical dominance; doing so can enhance ventilation and light penetration in the tree canopy, so that branches can also set fruit evenly in summer.
2. Remove sprouts and pinch the growing tips. For newly sprouted jujube shoots, when there is no room for development, remove them from the base or cut back to the rosette, keeping only 2-3 jujube fruiting spurs at the base. This can effectively reduce nutrient consumption, so that nutrients accumulate in the jujube fruiting spurs and jujube fruits, thereby speeding up the growth of young fruits and avoiding fruit drop caused by insufficient nutrients.
It should be specially pointed out here that for all mature jujube trees, all newly sprouted jujube shoots should be pinched back extremely heavily, leaving not a single jujube shoot branch or secondary branch. This is the key to a high yield of jujube trees. (Any form of jujube shoot branch is a kind of vegetative growth, and will consume a large amount of nutrients from the tree, causing other jujube fruits to drop heavily due to insufficient nutrients.)
3. Supplement fertilizer and water in time. After flowering, apply a topdressing of a three-element compound fertilizer; nitrogen fertilizer should be gradually reduced, and the amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer increased. Combine this with a thorough watering once after fertilizing, which can significantly improve leaf quality, strengthen the tree vigor, and promote fruit enlargement.
4. Spray foliar fertilizer to prevent fruit drop and fruit drop caused by high summer temperatures.
