In the past, we only knew that peaches could be peeled and eaten, and had never heard that pears could be peeled too. But now, Wang Shuyuan, an old horticulturist from Youyi County, through years of unremitting efforts, has crossbred and developed the Fragrant Pear (code name 12-7) whose skin can easily be peeled off entirely, and it is also of superior quality, cold-resistant and high-yielding. The 12-7 pear fruit is gourd-shaped, ripens on September 11, with yellow skin and a red blush on the sunny side, weighing 50-80 grams per fruit, with the largest reaching 150 grams. In the past, we only knew that peaches could be peeled and eaten, and had never heard that pears could be peeled too. The 12-7 pear fruit is gourd-shaped, ripens on September 11, with yellow skin and a red blush on the sunny side, weighing 50-80 grams per fruit, with the largest reaching 150 grams. When first ripe it is of the sweet and crisp type; once it turns soft and fragrant, not only is peeling it easier than peeling a peach, but not a single drop of juice leaks out, with a well-balanced sweet-and-sour taste and a rich aroma whose fragrance can draw customers to seek it out and buy it. The flesh is white as jade and yet delicate, with no stone cells, and its quality surpasses that of Qiuxiang and both large and small fragrant pears. Because of its well-balanced acid content, northerners consider its flavor to have surpassed that of the Dato pear, and it has been affectionately nicknamed "Peel-off Fragrance." It can be stored for 30-40 days after harvest. Today, when consumers are worried about pesticide residues on fruit skins, its @#@136@#@ advantages are extremely obvious. 2002 was an on-year for pears; the wholesale price in orchards for Qiuxiang and large and small fragrant pears was 0.25-0.30 yuan/kg, while Wang Tiancheng of Chaoyang Township, Baoqing County sold all his 12-7 pears at a wholesale price of 0.50-0.60 yuan per kg. Although the selling price was twice that of pears marketed in the same period, he still sold more and faster than other pears, and had many repeat customers.

This pear has extremely strong cold resistance and also strong disease resistance, with strong bud-breaking and branching ability. The buds are pointed, the branch tips have reddish-brown fuzz, the leaves are dark green, and it mainly bears fruit on short fruit branches. Grafted high, it bears fruit the following year, with strong continuous high-yielding ability, and can be called the outstanding one among fragrant pears of cold regions. It has been introduced and planted in Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Shanxi, ** and other places.

In this pear, there is no hard core near the seeds, and after removing the stem and spitting out the seeds it can be eaten entirely, giving an excellent edible rate.
