Introduction to the Xinli No. 7 Cultivar and Key Cultivation Points
The trunk is grayish brown, and 1-year-old branches are reddish brown and glossy. The leaves are dark green, with an average length of 13.4 cm and width of 7.88 cm, and a petiole length of 3.51 cm; the leaf tip is acuminate, the leaf base is rounded, and the leaf margin is finely serrate with spiny awns. The flower buds are long elliptical, with 8 flowers per inflorescence, overlapping white petals, pink anthers, and sterile pollen. The fruit is oval, medium to large, with an average single-fruit weight of 176.8 g; the base color of the fruit surface is green, with a slight striped red blush on the sunny side, and it is glossy; the peel is thin; the fruit dots are medium to large and dense. The flesh is white, crisp and juicy, with very few stone cells, a mildly sweet flavor, and excellent quality. The core is small, the soluble solids content is 12.1%, and the fruit is storage-tolerant, able to be stored in an ordinary earthen cellar until April to May of the following year.
The tree vigor is moderate to strong, the tree posture is semi-spreading, the budbreak rate is high, and the branching ability is medium. Young trees mainly bear fruit on medium and short fruiting branches, while mature trees can bear fruit on long, medium, and short branches. Young trees have a large branching angle, strong flower-forming ability, a high fruit-setting rate per inflorescence, and are not prone to preharvest fruit drop. It has strong adaptability, and the tree body is salt-alkali resistant and strongly drought tolerant. It has relatively strong cold resistance and is relatively resistant to low-temperature cold waves in early spring. The tree body and fruit have strong disease resistance. Areas suitable for growing Xiangli, Zaosu, Pingguoli, and Bartlett pear cultivars are all suitable for cultivating this cultivar. Pyrus betulifolia is its ideal rootstock. The pollinator arrangement ratio is 1:3-4, and there should be more than 2 pollinator cultivars. Bagging cultivation is recommended to improve external quality. This cultivar is suitable for medium-density cultivation, and a row spacing of 4-5 m x 3 m is recommended. It is advisable to use the small canopy delayed-open form or spindle form for training.
