1. Orchard establishment

Select fertile soil with deep, loose soil layers, sufficient water sources, convenient drainage, and a leeward location facing south or southeast, on flat land or gentle slopes for planting. Avoid establishing orchards at wind gaps, on north slopes, or northwest slopes. In windy areas, wind protection measures should be taken.

2. Orchard planning

For orchards established on flat land, the beds are generally 3 m wide, with ditches about 0.7 m wide x 0.7 m deep. If establishing an orchard on sloping land, terraces should be built along the contour lines, with drainage ditches dug on the inner side to facilitate irrigation and drainage and prevent soil erosion.

3. Planting

Star fruit can be planted all year round, with spring planting being the best. The planting period is from March to April. The row and plant spacing is about 4 m x 3.5 m, with 35-45 plants per mu. Before planting, dig holes 1 m long, 1 m wide, and 1 m deep. Place 25-50 kg of decomposed organic manure and 1 kg of superphosphate in each hole, mix well with topsoil, and fill into the hole. After planting, water thoroughly to settle the roots.
