Pest and disease control methods for wampee

Wampee, also known as huangdanzi and huangduan, originated in southern China and is a fruit tree that combines food, medicinal and landscaping uses. During production, pests and diseases can harm fruit quality and yield, so to achieve high yield and high quality, attention must be paid to pest and disease control. Follow the editor below to take a look at the control methods for common wampee pests and diseases.

1. Anthracnose

Anthracnose develops throughout the entire growth period of wampee, mainly harming leaves, branches and fruits. After the leaves are affected, brown spots appear at the leaf tips and leaf margins, and within a week the leaves wither and die, and the petioles also turn brown. The leaves fall off early, causing bare branches. After branches are infected, they also develop branch dieback or branch rot.

Control methods: Strengthen fertilizer and water management in the orchard, apply more organic fertilizer and phosphorus-potassium fertilizer, enhance tree vigor and disease resistance, promptly clean up diseased branches and leaves to reduce sources of infection, and spray carbendazim or Bordeaux mixture for control.

2. Sooty mold

It mainly harms leaves and fruits, and in most cases is induced by aphids, scale insects and the like. When the disease occurs, small brown mold spots appear on the leaves and branch tips. As the condition develops, black mold covers the entire leaf surface like a layer of soot. The leaves curl and wither. After the fruit is affected, the surface is likewise covered with a layer of black mold, reducing marketability and affecting quality.

Control methods: Do a good job of controlling aphids and scale insects, choose varieties with relatively strong disease resistance, and when the disease occurs, spray a low-concentration lime Bordeaux mixture for control.

3. Leaf spot

It mainly harms leaves. When the disease occurs, white circular or irregular lesions appear on the leaves, and the edges of the lesions are brown or reddish-brown. In some cases, multiple lesions or merged lesions form large spots.

Control methods: When the disease occurs, promptly remove diseased leaves to reduce fungal sources, then spray carbendazim or iprodione for control, with relatively good results.

4. Aphids

Aphids cause damage as adults and larvae. They gather on the young and tender parts of the plant, such as tender leaves, tender shoots and young fruits, sucking sap, causing damage to the plant's growth nodes, leading to poor plant growth and affecting yield and quality.

Control methods: Controlling aphids is a long-term task. During the period when aphids cause damage, spray imidacloprid or other insecticides once every 7-10 days.
