How do you improve the fruit set rate of Kyoho grapes? What methods are there?
Kyoho grapes have severe flower drop, a low fruit set rate, and loose clusters. Heavy pinching can improve the fruit set rate of Kyoho grapes, increase yield, and improve quality.
7-10 days before the grapes bloom, pinch the fruiting canes so that 2-3 leaves are retained above the flower cluster and the vegetative canes retain 5-6 leaves; pinch the main vine extension cane around the Beginning of Autumn. For the fruiting canes and vegetative canes, except for keeping 1 secondary shoot at the tip, remove all other secondary shoots. When the secondary shoots at the tips of the fruiting canes and vegetative canes grow to a certain length, pinch them respectively so that 6-8 leaves and 8-10 leaves are retained; the secondary shoots that develop on them and the secondary shoots of the main vine extension cane are all repeatedly pinched with 1 leaf retained. While pinching and handling the secondary shoots, thin out excess fruiting canes, vegetative canes, and fruit clusters according to the load; remove 1/4 to 1/5 of the tip of the retained fruit clusters, and remove the secondary clusters.
