What should be noted before bagging grapes?

Precautions before bagging grapes

Grapes are one of the better-known types among grape varieties, and growing grapes has become a job for some people. Every year our country's demand for grapes is very large, so many people want to increase production and have expanded the planting area. In fact, doing some management work well during planting can also effectively increase production, and bagging is one of them. So what should we pay attention to when bagging? Let's take a look together below!

1. Calcium supplementation for young fruit

Bagging is generally carried out when the fruit is not yet fully ripe, that is, during the young fruit stage of grapes. The young fruit stage is also a key period for the fruit to absorb calcium. Calcium is transported into the fruit along with water, but bagging too early will affect the fruit's absorption of calcium. If calcium is deficient, symptoms such as dead leaves, fruit cracking and fruit drop will appear. Dead leaves will also reduce the accumulation of nutrients in the fruit, leading to lower fruit quality. So before bagging we should pay attention to spraying an appropriate amount of quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer to promote the fruit's absorption of nitrogen and prevent various physiological diseases caused by nitrogen deficiency.

2. Stabilize tree vigor

Before bagging we should observe the tree vigor and decide the bagging time according to the tree's growth condition. Tree vigor that is too strong or too weak is not good for the fruit's development after bagging. We should adjust the tree vigor appropriately so that it stabilizes at a medium to slightly strong level. If the tree vigor is too strong, the fruit will lack nutrients after bagging, and bagging will instead affect the fruit's nutrient absorption. The reasoning for too weak is much the same. When it is too strong, use less chemical fertilizer; when it is too weak, increase the application of organic fertilizer to supplement the soil's nutrients, and carry out bagging work after the tree vigor recovers.

3. Rational use of chemicals

As everyone knows, before bagging the tree, fruit and other aspects must be disinfected. Before bagging we should spray disinfectant at least twice to eliminate pathogens and reduce the incidence of various diseases. But when disinfecting, pay attention to the use of disinfectants and insecticides, choose varieties that cause less harm to the tree, and control the dosage well. If the dosage is too much, although it can eliminate pathogens and parasites, it will also inhibit the tree. For chemicals, you can use agents such as antimycin and diflubenzuron. Avoid spraying at noon, and pay attention to spraying thoroughly and evenly when spraying.

4. Choice of bag

Choosing bags is also a matter of some particularity. You cannot choose inferior ordinary bags, such as plastic bag types. This is because plastic bags place the fruit in a completely sealed environment with extremely poor permeability, neither ventilating nor allowing water through. The tree's respiration and water evaporation will produce a large amount of water, which cannot flow out and very easily causes the fruit to rot. Plastic bags also very easily stick to the fruit, causing sunscald and so on. For bags you should choose double-layer paper bags, which have strong permeability and can also effectively prevent and control diseases and pests.

The above are some precautions before grapes are bagged. Bagging can improve the quality of grapes. But if management is not done well, it will seriously reduce production. After bagging, fertilize and water promptly, and afterward do a good job of water and fertilizer management. Promote fruit expansion, improve nutrient absorption, and strengthen quality.
