The name Golden Diamond pineapple is well chosen, like gold and also like a diamond, good-looking and delicious. So how are the sales of this pineapple variety? Let's take a look together.

Warm-winter Golden Diamond pineapple ripens early, exports exceed 10,000 tonnes: Wu Qinglu, chairman of the Taiwan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, said. The Council of Agriculture stated that the thin-skinned Golden Diamond pineapple with its fine flesh has been the top exported fruit for the past three years, and March to May each year is the peak export season for Golden Diamond pineapple. Because of this year's warm winter, the pineapple production period matured 10 to 20 days earlier, so the Council of Agriculture has guided exporters and farmers to harvest and export as early as February.
According to Council of Agriculture statistics, as of March 18, total pineapple exports had reached 12,089 metric tonnes, an increase of 230% compared with 3,658 metric tonnes in the same period of 107 (2018). Chen Jizhong pointed out that annual pineapple production is about 510,000 metric tonnes, and as long as 10% of annual production is maintained for export channels, the origin price can be effectively maintained. "It is not exporting for the sake of exporting, but to lift the origin price." In addition, Chen Jizhong also said that the Council of Agriculture has grasped a specific list of domestic sales channels, and next week will connect tea beverage companies and the food industry to open up sales channels for different grades of pineapple and maintain market prices.
Pineapple export platform moves toward implementing safe pesticide use and three-level fruit management to maintain export quality: Regarding the mechanism and operation of the pineapple export platform, Hu Zhongyi, Director-General of the Agriculture and Food Agency, explained that the platform can be divided into five groups: production, processing, domestic sales, export and leisure experience. The production group will be assisted by the Agriculture and Food Agency in guiding fruit farmers to produce pineapples that meet traceability and safe pesticide use standards. At present, it is based on 530 hectares of supply orchards registered for export contract farming, and will continue to match 315 hectares of group or individual producers into export channels. Therefore, if the average pineapple yield per hectare is 50 to 51 tonnes, Hu Zhongyi estimates that pineapple exports this year are expected to reach 40,000 metric tonnes.
Hu Zhongyi further stated that in order to maintain the quality of exported fruit in line with the regulations of importing countries, the Agriculture and Food Agency will integrate resources such as experiment and improvement stations and the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine, and through education and training courses teach farmers to implement safe pesticide use and establish traceable production records. It will also carry out three-level sampling inspection management at supply orchards, collection and packing houses, and border export points, so that pesticide residue levels in fruit meet the regulations of importing countries before export. In addition, the Agriculture and Food Agency will also guide operators to upgrade preservation and refrigerated transport equipment. "Good agricultural products need good equipment to be shared with the whole world," Hu Zhongyi said.
In response to the peak pineapple production season in the past three months, Chen Jizhong also called on the media at the press conference to pay attention to the item characteristics of different agricultural products. Pineapple can be divided into three grades: upper, middle and lower. If the decline in origin prices is pointed out based on lower-grade products or special cases, it may affect the overall pineapple market price and affect farmers' rights and interests.
