2. Planting. Dig a planting trench in the middle of the bed, with a width of 50-70 cm and a depth of 35-80 cm. Be careful to keep topsoil and subsoil in separate piles, and place weeds and easily decomposable straw at the bottom of the trench. Apply fertilizer into the trench: per 667 sq m (1 mu), apply 4-5 cubic meters of pig manure, or 3-4 cubic meters of sheep manure, or 2 cubic meters of decomposed chicken manure combined with 100 kg of phosphate fertilizer, and mix evenly with the soil. Fill the middle and lower parts with topsoil, and cover the surface with subsoil. In the north, planting time is mostly after autumn before the soil freezes, or in spring when the soil temperature rises above 5°C. When planting, make sure the roots spread out in all directions, bury and tread down as you go, and when half the soil has been filled, lift the seedling to let the roots spread out; water immediately after planting so the soil settles firmly.
