Key Management Measures for Lychee and Longan from November to December
November-December is the critical period and sensitive stage for the growth and development of autumn shoots, and classified management of autumn shoots must be implemented. 1. For the early-maturing Sanyuehong, flower bud differentiation begins in mid-to-late October, and winter shoots that sprout thereafter cannot form flowers and should all be removed. 2. For early-maturing lychees such as Bai Tang Ying (5158, -8.00, -0.15%) and Feizixiao in western Guangdong, new shoots that emerge in early October need more foliar fertilizer sprays to accelerate maturity, and early winter shoots that grow after November have no hope of flowering the next year and must be controlled and killed.

3. For mid-to-late-maturing varieties such as Heiye, Guiwei, Nuomici and Huaizhi, whether they are young bearing trees, vigorous mature bearing trees or normally growing old trees, early winter shoots that sprout in early November (for Shixia, Chuliang and Gushan No. 2 longan, those that emerge before mid-November) can be retained, with adequate fertilizer and water applied, pest control and shoot protection carried out, and multiple foliar fertilizer sprays applied. The organic nutrient-type high-efficiency nucleotide developed by Guangdong Biotechnology United Company (hereinafter referred to as "Biotechnology Company") can be used to accelerate the shoots turning green, with remarkable results.
4. For mid-to-late-maturing lychee after mid-November, and longan after late November, late winter shoots that sprout mostly will not flower the next year or will have very few flowers, and must be killed. Use "Shasao Wang" or "Kesao Wang" produced by the Biotechnology Company. When new shoots are 3-10 cm long and the leaflets have just unfolded, mix each small packet of the agent with 20 kg of water and spray to wet the tender shoots. After 1-2 days the tender shoots wither and die. The shoot-killing effect is good and economical, and it also has the effect of controlling shoots and promoting flowering. The following year the flower panicles are short and strong, and the fruit-setting rate is high.
5. For autumn shoots that have already fully matured or just turned green as fruiting mother branches, a comprehensive spray of lychee and longan shoot-controlling and flower-promoting agent, or lychee-specific shoot-controlling and flower-promoting agent, should be applied. For vigorously growing young and mature bearing trees, spray once more after 25-30 days. This has good effects on increasing the flowering rate of lychee and longan, improving flower quality and ensuring yield.
