Proper fertilization. For pomelo trees to grow normally, flower and bear fruit, they need a certain amount of nutrients, and the mineral nutrients from the soil are the raw materials for all the nutrients the pomelo tree needs. Mineral nutrients can also promote root growth and absorption. Increasing the mineral nutrients in the soil is an important way to improve pomelo yield and quality. (1) What pomelo needs...
Few people know that there is a very famous pomelo production area in Xindu District, Chengdu, and the pomelos produced there won multiple national quality awards as early as more than 10 years ago. In 2004, Mr. Robert A. Mundell, the Nobel Prize winner in economics known as the "father of the euro" and a famous economist, led a European Union economic delegation to visit the pomelo production area in Xindu District, Chengdu; in 2005, this pomelo variety obtained green food certification. It is the Xindu Pomelo of Xindu District, Chengdu - Xindu Pomelo is a variety of Xindu District, Chengdu, with two sub-varieties - No. 1 Pomelo and No. 2 Pomelo, concentrated in the cultivation area of Banzhuyuan Town, Xindu District, Chengdu, among which No. 2 Pomelo is the most popular with consumers. Every year, before Xindu Pomelo even reaches the market, it is completely bought up by advance orders, which is also one of the reasons why it is rarely sold on the market.
How should it be planted properly?
1. Requirements and selection of orchard land. The soil structure and physical properties should be good, with deep and fertile soil, good drainage, aeration and water retention; the groundwater level should be low, so there is no waterlogging in the rainy season; the humus content of the cultivated soil layer should be high, with a required content of 3-5%.
2. Requirements and selection of fruit seedlings. It is necessary to use fruit seedlings grafted with scions from branches of superior mother trees, and they must be strong seedlings with soil and free of pests and diseases.
3. Planting spacing. No. 1 Pomelo is generally planted at 50 trees per mu, with a row spacing of 3.3 m x 4 m, and No. 2 Pomelo at 60 trees per mu, with a row spacing of 3.3 m x 3.3 m.
4. Planting time. Spring and autumn are suitable, with autumn being the best. In spring, plant around the Beginning of Spring to Rain Water; in autumn, plant from mid-September to the end of October.
5. Hole digging requirements. Dig large holes to achieve the effect of improving the soil. The large hole should be 1 m wide and 1 m deep. After digging the hole, fill it with topsoil, green manure, compost, etc., filling layer by layer with one layer of fertilizer and one layer of soil, and mound it higher than the ground.
6. Field planting. Loosen the upper soil in the hole, apply 15 kg of decomposed compost, 1.2 kg of phosphate fertilizer, and 0.6 kg of potassium fertilizer, mix thoroughly and tread firm, then cover with a layer of fine soil. Dig a small hole in the planting hole, matching the size of the soil ball of the seedling with soil, then place the seedling on it so that it stands upright and the root system spreads out, and mound fine soil around it. If conditions permit, green manure or rice straw can be used to cover the tree dish to maintain temperature and humidity, which is beneficial for survival. After 20-30 days, when growth resumes, fertilize once every 10-15 days to promote growth, and pay attention to frequent pest and disease control, promptly remove adventitious buds and leggy branches, and cultivate a good tree crown.
