What are the control measures for sugarcane stem borers?
Sugarcane stem borers are mainly the sugarcane spotted borer and the giant borer. These two borers have 3-4 generations a year. The 1st generation generally occurs from early to mid-May to early to mid-June, and the 2nd-3rd generations occur from late June to September. Sugarcane is damaged by these two borers from the seedling stage until before harvest, among which the 1st-2nd generations cause relatively...

Control measures:
Chemical control should be applied before the bored-heart symptom appears, that is, when the sugarcane leaf sheath turns yellow or becomes water-soaked. For stem borers dominated by the spotted borer, you may choose 5% fipronil suspension concentrate at 40 ml per mu, or 2.5% cyhalothrin emulsifiable concentrate at 20 ml per mu plus 90% monosultap wettable powder at 40 g per mu. For stem borers dominated by the giant borer, you may choose 5% fipronil suspension concentrate at 20 ml per mu plus monosultap wettable powder at 40 g, or 51% Daonong wettable powder at 100 g.
Choose any one of the above pesticides, dilute with 50 kg of water, and spray the basal leaves and leaf sheaths of the sugarcane, then spray once more after 15 days.
