The stored-crown Hami melon is suitable for protected cultivation in the southeastern region.
I. Greenhouse production line construction 1. Greenhouse structure: This greenhouse is a 6.5m x 30m galvanized pipe arched plastic greenhouse with one longitudinal pipe and four card slots, with a height of 3.2m, a shoulder height of 2.0m, an arch spacing of 60cm, and the greenhouse legs inserted 35cm into the ground. A pressing groove is installed at each of the shoulder-height turning point of the greenhouse and at 20cm above the ground on the greenhouse legs, for use in pressing the greenhouse...
When Hami melon varieties from the Northwest region are introduced for planting in the southeastern region of China, because they cannot adapt to the climate conditions of small temperature differences, high humidity, and insufficient light, they often show poor disease resistance, low sugar content, and are prone to cracking on the melon surface, which affects the marketability of the melon. In recent years, the new Hami melon variety stored-crown bred by Anhui Jianghuai Horticulture Technology Co., Ltd. has the characteristics of good flesh color, stable netting, and good quality. It is not only suitable for open-field planting in the Northwest region of China, but can also be cultivated under protection in the southeastern region.Stored-crown is a large-fruited netted Hami melon variety. It can be cultivated in greenhouses in early spring and can also be grown in open fields under gauze net sheds in winter in the south. The plant grows vigorously and has strong resistance to gummy stem blight. The melon is long oval, with a single melon weighing more than 2 kg, a melon shape index of about 1.7, grayish-white skin covered with regular netting, relatively dense netting, good commercial appearance, no stem detachment, and no fruit cracking. The flesh is deep orange-yellow to light red, the cavity is small, the flesh thickness is about 4.2 cm, the soluble solids content in the center is 15%-16%, the flesh is relatively crisp, and it has a rich aroma. When the temperature is suitable, the whole growth period is about 105 days, and it takes about 42 days from female flower opening to melon maturity.
For greenhouse cultivation, hanging-vine vertical planting should be adopted, with about 1,300 plants per mu, single-vine pruning, 1 melon retained per plant, and artificial supplementary pollination. At planting, apply 200 kg of quicklime per mu to adjust soil pH, and at the same time increase the amount of farmyard manure applied to ensure melon quality. Temperature changes may cause fluctuations in the maturity period. It is recommended to mark them well during planting and taste before harvest to determine the best picking period. Stored-crown has strong storage and transport tolerance, and the melon can be stored for a long time without the flesh becoming soft.
