It is a fungal disease that mainly affects the green, tender parts of grapes, such as young fruit, leaves, petioles, fruit stalks, and young shoots. Black spot disease can occur from bud break to the late growth stage, and causes severe damage in spring and summer. When young fruit is infected, dark brown halos first appear, resembling a "bird's eye" pattern, and the lesions often merge into large patches. Later, the lesions harden or crack, and the lesions are confined to the fruit skin without penetrating into the flesh, and the lesions are hard. When leaves are infected, brown round spots of varying density appear. At first, the center of the lesion is grayish white, then it perforates and cracks in a star shape, with a purplish-brown halo around the outside. When young shoots, canes, petioles, or tendrils are infected, irregular small brown short spots first appear, then turn grayish black, with dark brown or purple edges, and the center becomes sunken and cracked. In severe cases, young shoots stop growing and curl or shrink and die.
