You are getting ready to fertilize your peach trees. How should you fertilize them in a scientific and reasonable way?
There are several key points for fertilizing peach trees:
(1) Early topdressing: apply fertilizer before bud break and in the early stage of fruit development; the first application should mainly be quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer, and the second should be a nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer or a special fruit tree fertilizer.
(2) Fertilization after harvest: a nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer can be applied as topdressing.
(3) Apply sufficient base fertilizer: it is best to apply it early in autumn, generally from August 20 to September each year in combination with plowing, applying 2000-5000 kg of decomposed organic fertilizer (pen manure, soil and miscellaneous manure, or human and livestock manure are all acceptable) per 667 sq m.
(4) Foliar topdressing: spray 0.1%-0.2% borax at full bloom, spray 0.3% urea in the early stage of fruit development, and spray 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate in the middle stage of fruit development; these have a good effect on increasing yield.
(5) Fertilization method: cherries have poorly developed vertical roots, and the root system is distributed shallowly in the soil, but the horizontal roots are well developed. When fertilizing during the growing season, to reduce root damage, radial trench application or concentrated hole application can be used.
