When planting peach trees in greenhouses, in addition to configuring pollinator trees in a certain proportion, it is also necessary to release bees during the blooming period or use artificial supplementary pollination to improve fruit set and strive for high and stable yields.
1. Artificial pollination
First, collect pollen. 2-3 days before pollination, collect flower buds of other varieties from other early-blooming greenhouses, remove the anthers, mix them, and place them in a ventilated area to dry in the shade, keeping the temperature at 20-25°C. After the anthers crack and release pollen, put the pollen into a dry small bottle and store it away from light for later use. Pollinate when the peach trees bloom. The best time for pollination is between 9:00 and 16:00. Use a brush or rubber tip to dip pollen and dab it onto the stigma of the pistil of newly opened flowers. The blooming period inside the facility is relatively long, generally about 10-15 days. It is best to pollinate newly opened flowers once every day.
2. Bee pollination
Place 1-2 hives of bees per mu in the greenhouse to achieve a relatively good pollination effect. Although some peach varieties have a high self-fruit-setting rate, the greenhouse environment is special, with no wind and no insects, so natural pollination is limited. Therefore, suitable pollination environment conditions must be created. For example: use machinery (electric fans) to blow air for pollen transfer; release bees and mason bees for pollination; artificial pollination.
