When is a good time to water sweet cherries? Asking for advice

Sweet cherry is the earliest-ripening fruit species among deciduous fruit trees in the north. Watering sweet cherries should be done according to their growth and development needs and weather conditions.

I. Pre-bloom water  Water before flowering. During this period the temperature is relatively low, so the amount of water should be small, with "the ground surface drying after the water passes" as the standard, so as not to affect root growth.

It is suitable to irrigate with water from reservoirs or ponds. Well water has a low temperature, so it is best to draw it up and store it in a water tank first, let it sun for a period of time, or let the well water flow through a longer channel and be warmed before irrigation.

II. Fruit-promoting water  From after flowering to before fruit ripening is the period when sweet cherries are most sensitive to water. During this period, watering should be frequent and the amount should be large, generally watering 2-3 times.

When watering, build square or rectangular beds between the rows and plants in the sweet cherry orchard. The soil surface near the trunk should be slightly higher, and the surrounding soil surface should be leveled, to prevent drought in high places and water accumulation in low places.

III. Post-harvest water  In places with sufficient water sources, when the weather is dry after harvest, watering can be combined with fertilization to give full play to the fertilizer effect and promote flower bud differentiation.
