How to fertilize Chinese bayberry for high yields? Please advise. The following methods can be referenced for fertilizing Chinese bayberry: 1. Rational fertilization. Fertilization of Chinese bayberry should take into account the soil and tree nutrient levels as well as the fertilizer requirements of Chinese bayberry. First is the fertilizer requirement characteristics of Chinese bayberry; attention should be paid to the use of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers, as mature trees have a relatively high demand for potassium fertilizer. How to apply boron fertilizer to Chinese bayberry? Please advise.

Chinese bayberry has a relatively shallow root system, with no obvious taproot and well-developed fibrous roots, mainly distributed in large numbers above 60 cm in the soil layer. Although Chinese bayberry has root nodules and can grow well on relatively barren, well-drained slopes, generally requiring no fertilization, Chinese bayberry is highly sensitive to boron fertilizer. In boron-deficient soil, the branches and leaves of Chinese bayberry develop water-soaked semi-transparent spots, ultimately leading to leaf loss, while the fruit's flesh columns become coarse and the flavor poor. Increasing boron fertilizer application can effectively prevent leaf loss at the tips of Chinese bayberry branches, make the flesh columns of the fruit appear bluntly rounded, juicy, soft and delicious, with good flavor, and increase the yield per plant.
Application methods of boron fertilizer on Chinese bayberry trees:
1. Base fertilizer application method: During the 2-3 months before sprouting and shoot growth, that is, in December, in combination with applying base fertilizer (the base fertilizer for Chinese bayberry is usually mainly plant ash), near the base of the Chinese bayberry, use the trench method or expanded hole method, dig trenches about 30 cm deep, apply boron fertilizer and then cover with soil. Generally, 150-200 grams of boron fertilizer per plant, and in boron-deficient soil, it can be appropriately increased.
2. Spraying method: 1-2 months after the first physiological fruit drop peak period of Chinese bayberry, in the early stage of the second fruit growth peak, in late May, use 200 grams of boron fertilizer per mu, add 50 kg of water, stir evenly, and spray on female Chinese bayberry trees. The spraying time should generally be chosen before 9 AM or after 3 PM to avoid strong sunlight.
Practice has proven that after boron application and boron spraying, Chinese bayberry can effectively prevent leaf loss and the appearance of bare branches, making the fruit juicy and sweet, with yield and benefits increasing multiple times.
