How should pineapple be planted well? Please give guidance.
Pineapple planting can be carried out with reference to the following methods:
1. Base fertilizer is generally mainly pig and cattle pen manure, with an equal amount of ash fertilizer and compost added for fermentation. If pen manure is lacking, compost, garbage fertilizer and other farmyard manure can also be used, but 50 kg each of phosphate rock powder and bran fertilizer should be added per mu and mixed for application, so that each plant has more than 0.5 kg of mixed fertilizer, which is better.
2. Preparation and grading of seedlings.
To develop commercial pineapple production, the planting materials and seedlings used include crown buds, slip buds and suckers. For crown buds and slip buds, it is best to use mature buds removed when harvesting the fruit, with seedlings more than 13 cm long; for suckers, use vigorous and thick ones, about 33 cm or more in length; underground buds are weaker, so try not to use them as planting material. Crown buds, slip buds and suckers should be planted by category, in separate areas or separate strips, and seedlings of the same category should also be graded by size for planting, so that after planting the growth is neat and uniform, and management such as fertilizing, earthing up, flower forcing and harvesting is more convenient.
3. Planting.
There are two reasons why proper close planting increases pineapple yield:
First, proper close planting increases the number of plants per unit area and increases the leaf area index, allowing the population to make full use of light energy, thereby increasing yield.
Second, proper close planting creates good environmental conditions for plant growth and development. Pineapple likes a warm, humid, soft and fertile growing environment, and avoids scorching sun, dry wind and low-temperature frost. Under close planting, plant height is notably greater, leaf spread is smaller, and leaves grow more upright, forming a dense green microclimate environment.
From the perspective of China's current production conditions, pineapple growth characteristics, planting habits in various places and economic benefits, a planting density of 3000-4000 plants per mu for the Cayenne variety and 4000-5000 plants per mu for the Philippine variety is relatively feasible. For mountain land with a slope exceeding 20 degrees, measures can be adapted to local conditions.
(2) Planting season.
In China, pineapple can be planted throughout the year, but planting from March to September is better. When planted from October to February of the following year, the temperature is low, there is little rain, and the soil is dry, which is unfavorable for root development of the plants, and growth can only recover after the weather warms in spring.
(3) Planting method.
Planting methods include double-row, three-row and four-row types. For the double-row type, the commonly used bed and ditch together are 150 cm wide, with double rows arranged as single plants.
(4) Planting.
Planting depth: 2-3 cm for crown buds and slip buds, 3-5 cm for suckers, with the growing point of the seedling exposed above the ground.
