The flowering period of wampee trees generally comes after Qingming. After Qingming, there is a relatively long period of rainy and overcast weather, which is unfavorable for pollination and fertilization of wampee flowers. To improve the vitality of the male anthers of wampee flowers and enhance the receptivity of the female stigma, in commercial cultivation, generally at the bud stage, while spraying pesticides to control pests and diseases, cytokinin and foliar fertilizers containing elements such as zinc, boron and magnesium should be added for spraying. After flowering, spray foliar fertilizer 2 to 3 more times. In addition, when many flowers have opened, attention should be paid to thinning out more than 1/2 of the total flower quantity per panicle, and then further thinning the top flowers and excessive side flowers of the panicle, thinning about 1/3 of the flowers per panicle. This is to avoid excessive flowering unnecessarily consuming too many nutrients from the tree, causing excessive flower drop or increased fruit drop in the future. After the first physiological fruit drop, attention should be paid to adding 30ppm gibberellin while spraying foliar fertilizer, spraying once every 15 days or so, for 2 consecutive sprays, or carrying out trunk girdling on vigorous trees to reduce fruit drop.
