How to water apricot trees after fruit set? What should be noted? Here is an introduction
For watering apricot trees after fruit set, you can refer to the following methods:
I. Irrigation during the fruit enlargement period
After fruit set on apricot trees, in the early stage of fruit growth, irrigation can be based on soil moisture conditions; if the soil is not very dry, do not irrigate. Excessive soil moisture easily causes vigorous growth of new shoots, intensifies nutrient competition between shoots and leaves and the fruit, causes severe physiological fruit drop, and affects fruit development. After physiological fruit drop, during the pit-hardening stage, that is, the early stage of the second rapid enlargement, a small amount of water can be applied once to promote fruit growth.
II. Irrigation before fruit harvest
Irrigate 2~3 weeks before harvest. This irrigation can promote fruit enlargement and increase yield, but attention must be paid to the irrigation method, otherwise it easily causes fruit cracking and reduces the commercial quality of the fruit.
III. Precautions for irrigation
If the soil is dry and irrigation is truly needed, the following points should be noted: 1. Irrigation should be carried out in conjunction with soil topdressing. Change the irrigation method; absolutely avoid flood irrigation and adopt micro-irrigation, such as drip irrigation, hole irrigation, infiltration irrigation, and under-film irrigation. 2. Irrigation amount. Do not use flood irrigation; instead, irrigate frequently with small amounts of water. The irrigation amount should be small rather than large, and it is better to water several times. 3. Irrigation time. Irrigation should be carried out on a sunny morning or in the forenoon, and avoid watering in the afternoon or evening to prevent fruit cracking. It is best to do it in the morning, when the greenhouse temperature, soil temperature, and water temperature are relatively close. After the roots absorb water, as light intensity increases and the greenhouse temperature rises, transpiration of the tree gradually increases, which can maintain a water balance among all organs, allowing the peel, flesh, and pit to expand synchronously and avoiding the occurrence of pit cracking or peel cracking. 4. Water temperature. Deep well water or pre-warmed water is preferable. The temperature of deep well water is generally 13~15°C, very close to the morning greenhouse temperature and soil temperature. 5. Loosening the soil to conserve moisture. Throughout the entire growing season of facility-grown apricot trees, especially after irrigation, shallow hoeing should be done in time to loosen the soil and conserve moisture, increase soil aeration, reduce soil water evaporation, lower the air humidity in the greenhouse, and promote the production of more high-quality fruit.
