Bananas are evergreen fruit trees; as long as the temperature is suitable, they can grow and develop year-round, so they need a nutrient supply for growth throughout the year. However, bananas require different types and amounts of fertilizer at different developmental stages. At present, most banana-producing areas in China are located in subtropical regions, where there is a relatively stagnant dormant period of growth in winter, and fertilization operations should also be carried out according to the climate and growth conditions. Based on many years of practice, banana growers have summarized an important set of fertilization methods.

(1) Base fertilizer: Apply 5 kg of pig and cattle manure or barnyard manure, 0.3 kg of lime, 0.3 kg of superphosphate, and 20 kg of decomposed farmyard manure per plant, thoroughly mixed with sun-bleached topsoil, and wait about 10 days before planting the seedlings. The role of base fertilizer is to improve the soil's physical and chemical structure and pH, laying a good foundation for high banana yields.

(2) Flower bud differentiation fertilizer: Apply 60-90 days before bud emergence. When sucker seedlings have about 20 large leaves and tissue-cultured seedlings have about 32 leaves, apply 0.2 kg of potassium fertilizer, 0.4 kg of compound fertilizer, and 0.5 kg of peanut bran per plant. Banana plantations with the conditions can apply manure water and river silt. The fertilizer can be applied in two split applications. It is used to promote flower bud differentiation and increase the number of hands and fingers of female flowers.

(3) Overwintering fertilizer: Carry out at the end of October. Apply 20 kg of pig and cattle manure or barnyard manure, 0.5 kg of peanut bran, 0.2 kg of potassium fertilizer, 0.1 kg of phosphate fertilizer, and 0.2 kg of lime per plant to increase the cold resistance of the plants.

(4) Warming fertilizer: The time is mid-March. Apply 0.2 kg of urea, 0.2 kg of compound fertilizer, and 0.1 kg of potassium fertilizer per plant, combined with manure water, in order to promote the plants to resume growth as soon as possible.
