Common Pear Tree Pest and Disease Control

The snow pear is a fruit with very high nutritional value, especially when it comes to clearing heat and detoxifying, and it also has high medicinal value in itself. However, the pear tree is a tree species that is very prone to disease. Below, Qinnong Network introduces some common pear tree pests and diseases and their control methods to help everyone solve some of their troubles.

1. Pear aphid

This is one of the most common parasitic pests of pear trees. It mainly likes to parasitize on leaves and intercept the pear tree's nutrients, which can seriously affect the pear tree's fruiting rate. The symptoms are pear aphid larvae attaching to the pear tree leaves; as time goes on, the leaves begin to curl into a cylindrical shape and eventually fall off. Generally, when such leaves are found, they should be promptly removed and burned to avoid infecting more places. In the early stage, manual removal can solve the problem; in severe cases, spraying 50% parathion emulsifiable concentrate at 3000 times dilution can be used for control.

2. Pear scab

This is the so-called pear black spot disease, which mostly occurs in the early fruiting stage and causes deformed fruit growth. The disease is mostly induced by excessive humidity. The symptoms are that spots begin to appear on the pear surface, then they slowly become moldy and black, and finally the entire fruit withers. In addition, pear scab is a mass-occurring disease, so it must be dealt with promptly once found. Guobingling, tebuconazole, and Heixing Sukefen are relatively common agents for treating this disease, and spraying 40% Xinxing emulsion at 800-1000 times dilution can also be used for advance prevention.

3. Pear tree rust

This disease is especially harmful to leaves and also causes relatively high damage to young pears, mostly concentrated in periods of alternating temperature with higher humidity. On leaves, the symptom is the appearance of rust-like spots, which then slowly dry up; on fruit, the symptom is dry and necrotic tips. Juniper and similar plants can seriously increase the incidence of the disease, and this should be noted. In susceptible seasons, spray 20% triadimefon emulsifiable concentrate at 1500-2000 times dilution for prevention, twice a month for two consecutive months. If the disease occurs, use 20% triadimefon at 600 times dilution for treatment.

4. Oriental fruit moth

This is one of the parasitic pests that pear tree fruits fear most. Once it is discovered, the snow pear is already beyond saving and has rotted. Therefore, early prevention and timely handling after disease onset must be taken seriously. It mostly occurs because the parasite enters the fruit at an early stage, and as the insect grows, the symptoms in the fruit become more obvious. For affected fruit, remove it directly and take it out of the orchard for destruction. The surrounding trees should immediately be sprayed with pesticides. Miesaoli and Mieyou Niao No. 3 are two relatively common treatment methods.

Once a pear tree becomes diseased, it must be taken seriously, otherwise the spread of infection will be very serious. Therefore, everyone should be more careful in daily inspections of the orchard, and do not be reluctant to use various pesticides, because once the disease becomes severe, the losses will be even greater.
