What should be noted during the process of growing wax apples?
The wax apple is a brightly colored fruit that has appeared in recent years. It can be called a fruit, and it can also be called a medicinal material. I remember the first time I saw a wax apple, I really could not help but be tempted, but the price was too expensive. Still, I bought one just to try it. Although the taste was just so-so, because it is a new product, it is still very much loved by everyone. So Qinongwang is here to bring you some precautions about growing wax apples. If you are interested, keep reading.

1. Choose a suitable variety
There are many varieties of wax apple, and the best one should be Taiwan, China's Black Pearl. Most of the wax apples in our country are produced in Hainan, and now a small amount is also grown in many other areas, such as Guangzhou and other places. Because the growing conditions are not particularly suitable for wax apples, the yield is generally not high, and the quality is also not as good as in Taiwan, China. If you really want to grow wax apples, then you must choose a good variety. Thailand's Red Diamond also has fairly good resistance. Although the yield and quality will decline when grown in other places, it is still quite good. So generally, the only two varieties that are most suitable to choose for planting are the two mentioned above.
2. Suitable growing environment
Wax apples need to grow in an environment that is relatively warm all year round, so the growing temperature should generally be kept between 20 and 30 degrees, and the lowest growing temperature cannot be lower than 12 degrees. In an environment below 12 degrees, wax apples will at best have reduced yield, and at worst the fruit trees will die from freezing. Although the growth of wax apples has no special requirements for soil, and basically any land can support growth, if you want a high yield, then you must keep the land relatively moist.
3. Reasonable planting density
Generally, wax apple trees can grow to three or four meters tall, and their branches and leaves spread out fairly widely, but the growth of wax apples requires sufficient sunlight, so planting density also determines the yield to a certain extent. Therefore, we plant according to the most reasonable density required by wax apples, which is generally a spacing of five or six meters between rows and four or five meters between individual plants. Secondly, if the density is not handled well at the time of planting, then later, when the wax apple branches and leaves grow very luxuriantly, we need to prune the branches and leaves of the wax apples as appropriate to maintain a suitable density.
4. Scientific fertilizer and water management
Fertilizer and water management for wax apples is related to age. Generally, for young seedlings that are not yet mature, we apply fertilizer twice, mainly the three types of fertilizer: nitrogen fertilizer, phosphate fertilizer, and potassium fertilizer. At the same time, the soil moisture should generally be kept at all times to promote the extension of branches and leaves. For wax apples that are three years or older, we mainly fertilize during the flowering period, fruiting period, and after harvest. During the flowering period, we mainly spray non-toxic organic phosphate fertilizer. During the fruiting period, we mainly apply boron fertilizer and special fertilizer for strengthening fruit. After harvest, it is mainly to prepare for the coming year, and generally this means piling up some farmyard manure, plant ash, or organic decomposed fertilizer.
5. Effective pest and disease control
The diseases that harm the growth of wax apples are generally anthracnose, blight, and fruit rot, and the main control method is spraying with chemicals to kill them. For anthracnose, we can use mancozeb wettable powder mixed with water for spraying. When symptoms are found, generally spray once every five or six days, and after about two times it will heal. Blight is also commonly contracted by all planted crops, so it is relatively simple to deal with; just spray with metalaxyl mancozeb. Fruit rot is a very serious problem that causes reduced yield of wax apples, so it must be controlled in time. The commonly used chemicals are Amistar, kresoxim-methyl fungicide, and Baitai. Pests are also similar to those of other fruits, and the most common are aphids, so Bordeaux mixture or imidacloprid both have excellent effects.
