How to grow sugarcane well

Sugarcane is currently a very popular fruit, and it is also a relatively easy fruit to grow. Sugarcane drinks on the market have always sold well. In an era when sugarcane is widely grown by everyone, how can you grow high-quality sugarcane? Today Qinnong.com will walk you through it.

1. Selection of high-quality seed cane

When selecting sugarcane seed cane, people often consider which part to use for planting. Whole-stalk seed cane grows well and produces large individual canes, while the tail-end sections have more buds and give good yields. Generally speaking, sugarcane tail seed cane is the first choice for many growers, because the fresh young buds at the tail are more numerous and can develop into more seedlings. When selecting, choose multi-bud seed cane that is on the greener side; this tends to be much more profitable and has a high survival rate.

2. Land management

Because sugarcane is planted fairly densely and consumes fertility, the soil must be well fertilized before planting. To ensure fertility can keep up, the soil should first be turned deeply, and second, the turned soil should be exposed to sunlight for disinfection as much as possible, generally for about a week. After a week, mix the fertilizer with the soil and bury it, then apply plenty of water, and dig it into strips, with the distance between two strips about the width of an adult's shoulder. The depth of the space in between is about 20-30 cm deep.

3. Fertilizer and water management

"If you want to grow sugarcane well, fertilizer and water must be kept sufficient." Because sugarcane is planted densely and, added to the fact that it itself has a high moisture content, its demand for fertilizer and water is high. Water according to local conditions and temperature changes, keeping it to once every 5-7 days. Fertilizer is generally applied as topdressing at these stages: early node growth, mid-stage leaf growth on both sides, and late-stage overall stalk growth. Compound fertilizer is generally recommended. When the leaves are growing in the middle stage, to ensure the overall nutrition of the sugarcane, some excess low-lying branches and leaves can be removed before fertilizing.

4. Field matters

In daily field management, first make sure there is not too much mulch covering the base of the sugarcane, as this is not good for the roots to breathe and grow. Generally, fallen leaves in the early stage should be cleaned up in time; in the later stage you can be more relaxed about it, because the early stage requires ensuring good development of branches and buds. Pest control in the field is a major task, and everyone must carry it out properly. Next, weed management is also a very important matter, but generally only the larger weeds are dealt with. In between, the soil should generally be loosened about 2-3 times, during the two periods of seedling raising and stalk formation.

The above are some methods that can ensure quality when growing sugarcane. If you want higher yields, then management must be meticulous. When the techniques are all about the same, whoever manages more carefully will of course have relatively much better sugarcane. You can refer to this more when planting.
