Lychee Planting Methods

As a very sweet fruit with very juicy flesh, lychee is loved by many people. But I'm afraid many people don't know that growing lychee, just like an apple tree, takes a long time. The lychee tree is also like the apple tree, very tall, and can bear fruit repeatedly. Below is an explanation of lychee planting methods.

1. Orchard planting

A lychee orchard can be chosen on a sloping site, with the size depending on circumstances, generally 3-4 mu. The best time for lychee cultivation is in early spring and at the start of autumn, that is, mid-March and early October, with about 19 plants per mu. Because lychee will grow to a height of 1-2 m, the row spacing between plants should be as wide as possible, 5*5 m or 6*6 m. The lychee seedling is planted with about 15 cm exposed in the middle. When planting, do not tread on it with your feet or pound it with anything; irrigate with a sufficient amount of water, about 50 jin per plant.

2. Fertilization measures

Lychee needs to be fertilized 3-4 times each year, with one fertilization needed during each seasonal transition period. The base fertilizer per mu requires about 1500 kg of decomposed farmyard manure and about 45 kg of San'an. Each time after the leaves turn green, some foliar fertilizer such as phosphate fertilizer and superphosphate can be sprayed. About half a month before flower bud differentiation begins, 10 jin of high-phosphorus water-soluble fertilizer can be applied per mu as a top dressing; before physiological fruit drop, high-potassium water-soluble fertilizer can be applied as a top dressing; in order to replenish the tree's nutrients after fruit harvest, a balanced water-soluble fertilizer can be applied as a top dressing. When applying top dressing, the amount should be controlled well, and fertilizer should not be applied at will.

3. Shoot control and pruning

Before fertilizing, prune away some injured branches and branches harmed by pests and diseases. The height of each plant should be controlled below 2 m to maintain the tree's nutrient transport and height. But when pruning, note that because lychee varieties differ, when pruning, the impact on Yuhebao is relatively small, and the flowering rate the next year remains high. But other varieties may have their flowering rate affected; products such as Sanyuehong lychee will be affected more greatly, and the flowering rate the next year will decrease. Therefore, thinning pruning should be done, with a small amount of short cutting.

4. Pest and disease control

The main pests of lychee are scarab beetles and others. Pests have a great impact on the quality and yield of lychee, so preventive preparations should be made according to the condition of the lychee. Generally, the first insecticide is sprayed around April, once about every 6 days, using alternately 1000-fold liquid of Lichongjing, 1000--2000-fold liquid of Anlübao, and so on. When picking lychee, pay attention to the safe interval from pesticides on the tree. Pests and diseases have a very great impact on the growth of lychee, so everyone must observe this aspect carefully. If such a situation is found, it must be dealt with promptly!

Although lychee may require a large investment of effort and have high costs in the early stage, lychee can bear fruit repeatedly. After the first fruiting period, the later costs become smaller and the profits become higher, making it a very feasible planting project. In the process of lychee planting, the two situations that most need attention are pests and common diseases. If you want to know how to control insects and prevent diseases, Qinnongwang will continue to answer for you.
