What are the precautions for durian cultivation?
Durian is the king of fruits, and its nutritional content is dozens of times that of other fruits. Many people love to eat it, but quite a few people also say durian smells terrible, and some even often joke about the smell of durian, but this does not affect the price of durian on the market, so the profit margin of durian cultivation is very large. Even so, the annual output and demand for durian are not proportional, and the output is far from enough. So today Qinnong Network will talk with everyone about the precautions for durian cultivation, hoping that the output of durian will increase greatly in the future.

1. Soil
Durian is a tropical fruit, so the choice of planting site requires consideration of many aspects. First is the climate of the planting site, as well as some other field conditions, and soil selection is also a very key point. Because durian growth requires relatively many nutrients, it is necessary to choose a plot with abundant soil fertility. Second, the soil permeability must be good, and the drainage and irrigation system should be relatively good. It is best to choose a plot where the upper soil layer is relatively loose and the lower layer is relatively thick, so the survival rate of durian cultivation will be greatly improved.
2. Variety
There are now many durian varieties, but the best is still the durian from Malaysia. One reason is indeed Malaysia's unique geographical location, and another is that the durian variety has already developed resistance to its weather changes. So we need to choose suitable varieties according to some local seasonal changes. In this way, the survival rate, output and quality of the planted durian trees can be guaranteed, and finally the service life can also be extended.
3. Temperature
Durian growth requires a large amount of heat, so the temperature of the planting site needs to be relatively high. It is best if the temperature is relatively stable all year round, with no particularly obvious seasonal changes. The optimal temperature suitable for durian growth is generally about 25 to 30 degrees, and the lowest temperature should preferably not be lower than 10 degrees, otherwise the durian tree will stop growing or even freeze to death. So in some places in our country, although durian is planted, the output and quality are not high, and most of the reason is the influence of temperature.
4. Density
Durian growth requires a large amount of light, so the planting density must be very reasonable. If the density is too low, most of the durian branches and leaves will be shaded, with no direct sunlight, so it cannot bear fruit, thereby reducing its output. So generally about more than 80 durian trees can be planted per mu, and the best planting density is about 2.5 to 3 meters between each plant and about 5 meters between each row.
5. Fertilizer and water
The fertilizer and water management of durian trees determines the output and quality of durian to a large extent. Every year when durian enters the dormant period, a heavy fertilizer application is needed to ensure the output of the coming year. Second, for adult fruit trees, flower-promoting fertilizer and fruit-strengthening fertilizer need to be applied every year. These two fertilizer applications are key to determining the fruit. For flower-promoting fertilizer, we mainly use potassium fertilizer and phosphorus fertilizer, which can not only promote flowering but also achieve the effect of preserving fruit. Fruit-strengthening fertilizer is generally applied by spraying, mainly boron fertilizer, so that the fruit can grow fuller, while shortening the fruiting period and achieving a ripening effect.
6. Fruit thinning
Because the number of fruits a durian tree can carry is limited, after fruiting every year we must knock down some of the fruits to maintain the normal growth of the fruit tree. If you are reluctant to do so, it may cause all the durian on the whole plant to fail to grow normally. The most serious case is that the fruits may wither due to excessive nutrient consumption. We must pay attention to knocking down the fruits on the tree that are weaker in growth, deformed, or damaged by pests and diseases. This is the most correct approach.
