I. Protect the functional leaves
The functional leaves ?? autumn shoots play an important role in flower bud differentiation, flowering and fruiting. While controlling shoots and promoting flowering, attention should be paid to preventing and controlling pests and diseases to protect intact autumn shoots.
II. Kill off winter shoots
The sprouting of winter shoots causes the plant to change from reproductive growth to vegetative growth and consumes nutrients, so they should be removed manually or killed with chemical agents.
(1) Use 10?12 ml of 40% ethephon plus 15 g of 15% paclobutrazol mixed with 15 kg of water for spraying to kill them.
(2) Use 1 small packet of lychee-specific flower-promoting agent (developed by the Fruit Tree Research Institute of the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences) mixed with 35?40 kg of water for spraying to kill them.
(3) Because shoot flushing consumes a certain amount of nutrients, 1 small packet of lychee-specific flower-promoting agent plus 1 small packet of nucleotides can be mixed with 50 kg of water for spraying, to supplement the nutrients consumed by shoot flushing, improve photosynthesis, and benefit flower formation.
(4) Use 1 small packet of Lychee Shoot-Control and Flower-Promoting Agent No. 2 (developed by the Fruit Tree Research Institute of Guangdong Agricultural University), mixed with 400 kg of water for spraying to kill them.
III. When winter shoots begin to sprout
Because there has been a lot of rain recently and underground humidity is high, once the temperature suddenly rises, individual plants may flush shoots. If the temperature rises, attention should be paid to inspection and observation. If winter shoots are found sprouting, 750-fold dilution of 15% paclobutrazol can be sprayed to inhibit winter shoot sprouting. It is best to spray directly at the growing points. It should not be too heavy, as too heavy application will affect the formation of floral organs.
IV. Root cutting to control shoots
For root cutting to control shoots, soil should be returned and pressed over the roots as soon as possible. This is because after the roots are cut and lifted from the soil, exposure to light, together with the recent abundant rain and high humidity, increases cytokinins in the roots and makes shoot flushing likely.
Lychee is planted over a wide range. In different regions, the climate differs somewhat; in different soils, fertility levels differ; and with different people, management levels also differ. In addition, varieties differ, and the physiology of the trees themselves differs. Each region should, according to local conditions, combine the growth conditions of each variety, each orchard and each plant, and apply chemicals at the appropriate time and in the appropriate amount. For trees with vigorous growth, use a slightly higher chemical concentration (which must not exceed the recommended dosage); for weak-growing trees, use a slightly lower concentration.
