How to plant winter sugarcane for high yields? Six key measures
1. Timely fertilization: after emergence, fertilize together with the first weeding; during the second field growing period, apply diluted fertilizer together with each hilling; the third time, apply foliar fertilizer and balanced fertilizer at the appropriate time, and add New High-Fat Film spray each time to greatly increase the limited nutrient utilization rate of the fertilizer. 2. Hilling and fixing seedlings: generally, hilling should be done 3-4 times each year...
Winter-planted sugarcane in Jinggu can not only achieve high yields and early maturity, but also stagger the farming schedule, making it easier to arrange land crop rotation, and sugarcane seed is also easy to obtain, with yield per mu 5-10% higher than spring-planted sugarcane.1. Land preparation. It is advisable to choose plots with deep soil, medium-to-high fertility, loose soil, and strong water retention. After deep plowing and fine harrowing, open planting furrows at a row spacing of 90-100 cm, with a furrow depth of generally about 15 cm. The furrow bottom should be fine, broken up, and level to help increase the germination rate of the seed stubble.
2. Disinfection. Select thick sugarcane stalks from the tip (sugarcane tail), cut them with a sharp knife into 2-3 bud segments, and soak the seed pieces for 10 minutes in a 800-1000 times solution of 50% carbendazim or thiophanate-methyl to prevent the cut surfaces from being infected by pineapple disease and black rot.
3. Proper sowing. Winter-planted sugarcane can be divided into early winter planting, mid-winter planting, and late winter planting; early winter planting starts in mid-November, and late winter planting can be postponed to late January of the following year. According to local climate characteristics, choose the sowing period according to local conditions; generally, early winter planting is relatively ideal.
4. Fertilization. After winter-planted sugarcane is sown in the field, apply 60 loads of decomposed farmyard manure or high-quality soil-mixed manure per mu, mix with 25 kg of superphosphate and 10 kg of potassium chloride, use as base fertilizer to cover the seed, then pour on 15-20 loads of manure water, and finally cover with 4-5 cm of soil to help increase temperature and retain moisture.
5. Film covering. Winter-planted sugarcane should use plastic film mulching to increase temperature, retain moisture, and improve the germination rate. The plastic film should preferably be 40-45 cm wide. When soil moisture is sufficient, cover with film immediately after sowing, fertilizing, and covering with soil. When covering with film, it should be placed above the seed seedlings and pulled tight so that the film fits closely against the ground surface, with all four sides pressed firmly with soil. If there are holes in the film, cover and bury them with fine soil.
6. Pest control. Winter-planted sugarcane is susceptible to damage by the sugarcane borer, causing dead heart and seedling death. After the weather warms up the following spring, remove the film to harden the seedlings, and in combination with intertillage weeding and fertilization, use 250 mL of 18% bisultap per mu diluted in 30-50 kg of water, and spray on a sunny day after breakfast or in the evening.
