Pineapple fruitlet brown rot, also known as black heart disease, is a disease that occurs commonly in pineapple-growing regions worldwide, and is more prevalent in Cayenne-type pineapples. The disease mainly affects ripe fruit,
Symptoms:
The appearance of affected fruit is no different from healthy fruit, but symptoms can be seen when cut open. Infected fruitlets turn brown or form black lesions, and the affected tissue becomes slightly dry and hard, and generally does not easily spread to adjacent healthy tissue. Another symptom is that when diseased fruit is cut open, the area near the fruit axis darkens and becomes water-soaked, later turning black.
Control methods:
During the flowering period, spray Bordeaux mixture once every 2-3 weeks. At the same time, increase the application of potassium fertilizer and improve the drainage conditions of the orchard.
