How to manage bayberry (Chinese bayberry) after harvest? These technical points must be mastered

1. Scientific fertilization. Due to the growth of two flushes of shoots in spring and summer and the flowering and fruiting, the bayberry tree consumes a large amount of nutrients. July to August is also the period of flower bud differentiation and autumn shoot growth, and the growth quality of autumn shoots directly affects the yield of the following year. The amount of fertilizer applied should depend on the tree vigor and the amount of fruit produced. Generally, for a tree yielding more than 50 kg, apply 40... of organic fertilizer

Generally, for a tree yielding more than 50 kg, apply 40-50 kg of organic fertilizer mixed with 1 kg of phosphate fertilizer and 0.5 kg of urea. Bayberry should not be fertilized with phosphate fertilizer alone, so as to avoid reducing the quality of the bayberry.
Fertilization methods:
(1) Ring-shaped fertilization: With the main trunk as the center, dig a ring-shaped trench according to the size of the canopy. For organic fertilizer, the trench should be deep. After fertilization, cover with soil. This method can be used for large trees.
(2) Hole fertilization or radial fertilization: With the trunk as the center, parallel to the arc-shaped lines around the canopy, dig 5-6 trenches or holes. The length and depth of the trenches depend on the amount of fertilizer used and the size of the canopy. Alternatively, with the main trunk as the center, perpendicular to the tangent lines around the canopy, dig 5-7 radial trenches, with a trench length of 70-80CM, width of 30-40CM, and depth of 30CM. After fertilization, cover with soil.
2. Timely spraying. To prevent and control bayberry brown spot disease, spray 200 times Bordeaux mixture, or 800 times 70% thiophanate-methyl, or 1000 times 50% carbendazim after fruit picking.
3. Proper plowing. After bayberry harvest, because of the trampling of the orchard by people during harvesting and the soil compaction caused by spring rain and plum rain leaching, plowing and loosening the soil can cut off capillary action, improve the tree's drought resistance in July to August, and help flower bud differentiation and fruiting the following year. The plowing depth is required to be about 15M, and it can be carried out together with fertilization.
4. Reasonable pruning. Summer pruning of bayberry can moderate tree vigor. Therefore, while applying topdressing, reasonably prune the bayberry trees, remove diseased and pest-infested branches, dead branches, weak branches, and shaded branches, and properly open windows in the canopy, so that the canopy is ventilated and light penetrates, more autumn shoots are produced, and the yield of autumn shoots is increased.
