A fungal disease. It damages fruit during storage, causing the fruit to rot; when it attacks branches it is called gummosis. Harvesting fruit after rain or in damp conditions, and leaving no fruit stalk, favour the occurrence of this disease.
Control methods: (1) Clean the orchard in winter, and routinely apply extra lime and potassium fertilizer; step up spraying during the flowering and fruiting periods to reduce the amount of latent inoculum (the fungicides used for anthracnose control can be referred to). (2) Harvest on sunny days after the dew has dried, avoid mechanical injury, and leave a 1cm fruit stalk. (3) Within 24h after harvest, dip the fruit for 2-5min in a 1000-fold dilution of 25% prochloraz (miprozin) (31°C), or dip the fruit for 10-15min in a 500-1000-fold hot solution (53±1°C) of 50% benlate or 50% thiabendazole.
