When growing bananas, you can refer to the following methods to prevent and control bunchy top disease:
    1. Establish disease-free nurseries and cultivate disease-free seedlings. The nursery should be set up in a place with no banana plantations within a 2000-3000 m radius, to prevent aphids from entering and spreading the disease; insect-proof netting can be added over the seedling shed.
    2. Use herbicide to kill diseased plants and replant with disease-free seedlings. Injecting 10-15 ml of undiluted glyphosate can kill virus-carrying banana plants. During the operation, use a long syringe to inject into the pseudostem toward the base at a point 15 cm above the ground, killing the growing point of the underground stem; after about 15 days, the whole plant withers and dies. Dead diseased plants should be dug out promptly, the soil around the diseased plants turned over, lime spread for disinfection, and the planting hole exposed to the sun; after 15 days, disease-free seedlings can be replanted.
    3. Control aphids. For tissue-culture seedlings in the greenhouse, spray 40% dimethoate emulsifiable concentrate at 1000-1500 times dilution or 5% derris extract emulsifiable concentrate at 1000-1500 times dilution once every 7-10 days; during the field stage, in the peak aphid periods from March to May and from August to October, aphid control must be carried out intensively, and before the plants reach 1.5 m in height, aphid-killing insecticides should be sprayed 2-3 times per month.
    4. Regularly renew old banana plantations. Generally speaking, banana plantations should be renewed 2-3 years after coming into production, which has a clear effect on reducing the disease incidence.
