How to manage pomegranate trees well after picking the fruit? Please explain the management methods
In early to mid-September, pomegranates ripen one after another and enter the harvest stage, and post-harvest management must be done promptly to speed up the recovery of tree vigor, strengthen the fruiting mother branches, and lay a good foundation for high and stable yields next year.
Clear weeds, fallen leaves and fallen fruit from the orchard; prune out the shaded branches inside the canopy and the diseased and insect-damaged branches, dead dry branches, weak slender branches, overlapping branches, excessively stacked branches and damaged branches on the outside of the canopy; cut back flower-and-fruit-dropping branches, fruit-picking branches and water sprouts; and bury them deep or burn them in a centralized place outside the orchard.
Apply post-harvest fertilizer in good time. Apply it within 5 to 10 days after picking the fruit, mainly with high-quality organic fertilizer or nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer. For trees more than five years old, apply 40 to 50 kg of decomposed composted human, poultry and livestock manure per tree, or 3 to 4 kg of nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer. Under the canopy, dig 4 to 6 radial trenches 15 to 20 cm deep, 25 to 30 cm wide and 80 to 100 cm long in the surface soil, spread the fertilizer evenly in the radial trenches, and cover back with soil.
Strengthen pest and disease control. After clearing the orchard and pruning, spray the leaf surfaces inside and outside the canopy once with a 0.8 to 1 degree Beaumé lime-sulfur mixture water solution; during the period of tree vigor recovery, the canopy must also be sprayed once every 15 to 20 days with a mixed solution of 1000 times Lespon and 800 times methyl thiophanate, or a mixed solution of 800 times trichlorfon and 600 times carbendazim, or a mixed solution of 1000 times dichlorvos and 600 times dexon, for 2 to 3 consecutive sprays, evenly wetting all branches and leaves, until water droplets begin to drip down.
