The differences between the fertilization methods for growing blueberries and ordinary fruit trees are as follows:
First, in terms of nutritional characteristics, blueberries are a typical calcifuge plant, with a strong ability to rapidly absorb and accumulate calcium. Analyzed from the overall nutritional level of the tree, blueberries are oligotrophic plants; compared with other fruit trees, their internal N, P, K, Ca and Mg contents are low, so improper fertilization can easily cause damage to the tree.

Second, in terms of fertilizer types, the response of the soil to nitrogen fertilizer varies with soil type and soil fertility. Soil types with high organic matter generally do not receive nitrogen fertilizer but instead receive more phosphorus fertilizer. Potassium fertilizer has a significant yield-increasing effect on blueberries, can improve quality and promote earlier ripening, but excessive potassium fertilizer has no effect on increasing yield. During fertilization, applying complete fertilizer gives better results than applying a single nutrient fertilizer.

Third, the difference lies in the fertilization method and timing, mainly broadcast application, generally carried out before sprouting in early spring. The amount used should be appropriate to ensure good plant growth. In addition, research has found that splitting fertilization into 2-3 applications within a year gives better results than a single application.

Fourth, when using nitrogen fertilizer, be careful not to use nitrate nitrogen fertilizer. Furthermore, fertilizers containing CL ions, such as KCL, should not be used. Otherwise, it will not only be unfavorable to growth and fruiting, but will also cause damage.
