In summer, apple trees can be managed by referring to the following methods:
    1. Disease and pest prevention. Entering summer, with high temperatures and high humidity, various pathogens and pests are most likely to breed and multiply, so doing a good job of disease and pest prevention is particularly important. Its preventive measures include: comprehensive chemical control, manual prevention, and targeted prevention.
II. Preventing fertilizer loss and deficiency. Summer is the peak period of fertilizer demand for apple trees. If fertilizer is not applied in time, fertilizer loss will occur and affect tree vigor and the normal development of young fruit. Therefore, fertilizer should be applied in time. Usually, for ordinary large trees, 50 kg of manure and urine can be applied in holes per tree, or urea, superphosphate, and potassium sulfate mixed in a 3:10:5 ratio into 2 kg and applied. For fields with obvious fertilizer loss, 2% urea aqueous solution can also be mixed in when spraying pesticide and applied as a foliar spray. At the same time, for apple trees with nutrient deficiency symptoms, targeted fertilizer spraying should be used for remediation. For example, for fruit trees with calcium deficiency and water core disease, during the fruit enlargement period to 10 weeks or 8 weeks before harvest, spray 2 to 4 times with 0.5% calcium nitrate aqueous solution for remediation.
III. Preventing sunscald. In midsummer, the temperature is high and sunlight is strong, and the local temperature of apple fruit can sometimes reach above 45°C, causing sunscald. Its symptoms are that black spots first appear on the fruit surface, then gradually expand and eventually rot, greatly affecting yield. Its prevention methods are: first, timely watering or sprinkling water in the orchard to cool down and increase humidity to prevent the direct harm of high temperature and strong light to the fruit; second, for fruit prone to sunscald, apply whitewash, attach paper, or bag the fruit. The formula for the whitewash is lime and water in a 1.5:4 ratio, with a little salt added, mixed into a paste.
IV. Preventing premature aging. Summer is the peak period of nutrient consumption for apple trees, and premature aging often occurs due to insufficient fertility or waterlogging disasters. Therefore, when entering summer, in addition to timely topdressing to prevent premature aging, attention should also be paid to preventing waterlogging and draining excess water. Because waterlogging is the main cause of premature aging of apple trees, therefore, ditches should be cleared and water drained in time, so that the ground is dry after rain, the orchard does not accumulate water, and the orchard soil is dry and refreshing.
