What pests commonly affect pomegranate trees? What control methods work well? I hope fellow growers can share their experience. The common pests in pomegranate tree cultivation are mainly aphids, peach fruit borers, red spider mites, and fruit borers; the following control methods can be used for reference.
1. Insecticide pest control method:
According to field pest conditions, when larvae and eggs of peach fruit borers and fruit borers appear, promptly spray 30% Taoxiaoling emulsifiable concentrate at 2000 times dilution, or 20% Mieshaoli emulsifiable concentrate at 3000 times dilution, or 20% fenvalerate at 2000 times dilution, or 20% Juma emulsifiable concentrate at 3000 times dilution for control. The above pesticides also work very well against aphids and red spider mites.
2. Method of plugging insect holes with medicated mud:
After harvest and before bud break, thoroughly gather the mummified fruits, diseased fruits, and insect-damaged fruits on and under the trees, and burn them in a centralized pile or bury them deep. Clear corn stalks, sorghum stalks, and other crops from the orchard to prevent them from becoming overwintering hosts for pests. Remove old cracked bark from the trees, plug tree holes with medicated mud, and smear mud into trunk cracks to minimize the overwintering pest population.
3. Sand trapping method:
In places where large quantities of fruit are piled, spreading sand can trap and kill fruit borers.
