The powdery mildew fungus is epiphytic, harming leaves, leaf stalks, young stems and young fruit. In the early stage it produces white powdery scattered spots, which later cover the entire surface, causing the leaves to show light green to yellow spots and the young fruit to show powdery ring spots. This fungus prefers dry conditions and occurs under relatively low humidity.
