How do you control pests and diseases in sweet cherry trees at each stage? Please explain the methods for preventing diseases and pests at each stage of sweet cherry

The main pests and diseases of sweet cherry include white peach scale, green plant bug, leafminer, shot hole disease, leaf spot disease, crown gall, and gummosis. The following introduces the pest and disease control methods for each stage of sweet cherry for reference:

  1. Cherry tree dormancy period:
Along with pruning, thoroughly remove residual branches, fallen leaves, and fallen fruit from the field, scrape off old and cracked bark from the tree, cut off diseased branches and shoots and thoroughly destroy them to reduce the base of pest and disease occurrence. At the same time, strengthen tree protection by applying Tree Guard General to pruning and saw cuts and scraped areas to prevent disease infection.

  2. Cherry tree trunk and branch period:
Spray the entire tree once with Tree Guard General to eliminate pests and diseases on the tree. In orchards where white peach scale occurs, before bud break, when young larvae are active, spray with 800 times dilution of New High Lipid Film combined with 1000 times dilution of Sujieke or 1000 times dilution of Nongdile for control.

  3. Cherry tree flowering and fruiting period:
The focus is still on good control of white peach scale. In mid-May (around March in protected cultivation), during the peak hatching period of the first generation of young scale insects, spray the entire orchard with 600 times dilution of New High Lipid Film combined with 1500 times dilution of Sujieke, or 1000-1200 times dilution of Nongdile or Lesiben. The use of highly toxic pesticides is strictly prohibited.

  4. Post-harvest period of cherry trees:
This period is when multiple pests and diseases occur together, mainly including leaf fall disease, leafminer, red spider mite, and pear lace bug. For shot hole leaf fall disease, promptly spray 500 times dilution of New High Lipid Film before disease occurrence for control, spraying 2-3 times consecutively. At the early stage of disease onset, promptly spray 800 times dilution of New High Lipid Film combined with 1500 times dilution of thiophanate-methyl mixed with high-efficiency fungicides.

For insect pests, depending on the type and severity of occurrence, choose beta-cypermethrin, imidacloprid, diflubenzuron, abamectin, etc. for control. Mixing pesticides is encouraged to achieve simultaneous control of pests and diseases.
