Sweet cherry trees can be managed in summer by referring to the following methods:

Pinching. Summer is a critical period for the growth of sweet cherry trees, and excessive leaves and branches have a certain impact on the following year's fruiting. Therefore, when the current year's shoots grow to more than 25 cm, they should be pinched in time. Pinching must be carried out repeatedly to achieve some control over tree vigor.

Branch bending. Summer is also a key season for bending branches of sweet cherry trees. According to growth surveys of sweet cherry trees, all large trees that do not bear fruit or bear little fruit are the result of inadequate branch bending. When bending branches of sweet cherry trees, the angle between the main branch and the trunk should be controlled at 90°; 70° or 80° both have an impact on fruiting.

Summer branch bending should begin in June and continue until the end of August. Plastic rope should not be used for bending cherry tree branches, because plastic rope deforms very easily when exposed to light. It is recommended to use hemp rope or other rope.

Pest and disease control for cherry trees in summer:

The main leaf diseases of cherry trees are brown spot disease and black spot disease. Control methods:On sunny days before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m., promptly spray carbendazim or mancozeb for control.

The main insect pests are scarab beetles, peach leafminer moths and various slug moths,Control methods:Spray a 2000-fold dilution of 5% cypermethrin; this gives the best control effect.
