How do you manage cherries during Minor Heat? Please explain the management methods in detail. The main management of cherries during Minor Heat includes the following 4 points for reference:
1. Summer pruning of cherry trees
Summer pruning method 1. Retracting the canopy:This method can reduce the overall height of each cherry tree canopy by 50-80 cm, preventing the tree from growing taller and taller, which affects indoor ventilation and light conditions.
Summer pruning method 2. Cutting back and thinning out main branches:Strong main branches should be heavily cut back, and moderate main branches should be cut back to the middle, so that they retract to the middle or rear forks and are re-trained and developed into main branches.
Summer pruning method 3. Careful pruning of each branch group:The various branch groups and branches growing on the main branches and trunk should be carefully pruned, removing densely growing chicken-claw branches, upright branches, overlapping branches, and peripheral competitive branches, heavily short-cutting medium and long branches, and retaining moderately vigorous horizontal and slanted branch groups.
Summer pruning method 4. Cultivating new fruiting branches:After heavy pruning, the tree will stimulate numerous new buds and new branches. Those in suitable positions should be trained into new main branches or fruiting branch groups; those in unsuitable positions must have their sprouts removed in time, and the layers between should be cleared.
2. Fertilizing and watering cherry trees
Cherry topdressing and watering methods:After removing the film, fertilization should be carried out in time. Between every two trees in each row, dig a fertilization trench 30 cm deep, 30 cm wide north-south, and 100 cm long east-west. Scatter 250-300 g of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium compound fertilizer in each trench. After covering with soil, restore it to a high ridge bed, cover with plastic film, scatter soil on the film, and seal it tightly.
When opening the trench, the roots exposed after digging should be cut off, and the root system should be renewed and shortened to reduce root volume and control tree expansion. When digging the trench, be careful not to damage the agricultural film at the bottom of the trench. Water once while fertilizing.
The second fertilization is carried out in mid to late September, and a fertilization trench should be dug on the other side of the planting row. Thereafter, the operation can be rotated every year.
Cherry tree foliar spraying method:After removing the film and shortening and pruning, combined with disease and pest prevention, spray once every 7-15 days with 1000 times dilution of fruit-tree-specific "Tianda-2116" + 0.7% brown sugar + 0.3% urea solution, for 3-4 consecutive times.
After the end of June, switch to using 0.4% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution + 0.7% brown sugar solution + 0.3% urea solution alternately with it, spraying once every 7-10 days, for 3-4 consecutive sprays.
3. Spraying paclobutrazol on cherry trees:Starting from early July, spray once every 10-15 days with 200-300 times dilution of 15% paclobutrazol, for 1-3 consecutive sprays, to inhibit vigorous new shoot growth and promote flower bud differentiation.
4. Drainage and waterlogging prevention in cherry orchards:Cherry trees are afraid of waterlogging. Once there is standing water in the field, if it lasts about 24 hours, the tree will die from flooding. Therefore, after removing the film, high ridges should still be made, and the ridge surface should be covered with plastic film to prevent waterlogging. When it rains, also pay attention to timely drainage, and strictly prohibit standing water between the rows in the shed.
