The Chinese citrus fruit fly is commonly known as citrus maggot, and infested fruit is called maggot fruit. It generally begins to occur during the citrus fruit-swelling stage, so Zhongdiwang has compiled the harm and control methods of the Chinese citrus fruit fly, listed in detail below for netizens' reference.

Harm caused by the Chinese citrus fruit fly:
The Chinese citrus fruit fly generally damages four citrus types: pummelo, sour orange, navel orange, and mandarin. Sour orange and sweet orange suffer the most severe damage. Its larvae tunnel and feed on the segments inside the fruit, causing the fruit to turn yellow before ripening, with red showing within the yellow, and the infested fruit rots severely. In ordinary years, the citrus fruit drop rate is about 10%, and in severe years the fruit drop rate can reach more than 60%, causing serious harm to yield and fruit quality.

Control methods for the Chinese citrus fruit fly:

Method one,The peak period for adult emergence from the soil is in early to mid-May, generally concentrated from 9-12 a.m., especially on clear days after rain, when emergence is most abundant at higher temperatures. From May 5-8, use 100 g of 90% trichlorfon crystal per mu; from May 13-16, use 100 mL of 48% chlorpyrifos per mu mixed with 50 kg of water for ground spraying to seal off and kill adults emerging from the soil.

Method two,From May 20 onward, use a sugar-vinegar medicinal liquid to trap and kill adults. Use hanging bottles for trapping. The trapping agent formula is prepared with orange juice + brown sugar and a 90% trichlorfon aqueous solution. The formula ratio is trichlorfon : orange juice : brown sugar : water = 0.2 : 5 : 5 : 100. Put the trapping agent into disposable plastic cups, pass a twist tie through the rim of the plastic cup, and tie both ends of the twist tie to the branches of the citrus tree. The disposable plastic cups should be hung in the shady side or north side of the middle layer of the citrus tree canopy. Hang 20-25 plastic cups evenly per mu, and replace the trapping agent about every 10 days.
