How to scientifically fertilize honey pomelo? A detailed introduction to the methods

Honey pomelo is cultivated in Hubei, Chongqing, Hunan, Guangdong and other places in China. Honey pomelo tastes sweet and sour, with a slight bitterness, and is rich in vitamin C and a large amount of other signature nutrients. It is recognized by the medical community as the fruit with the greatest therapeutic benefits. Therefore, Zhongdi Web has compiled the fertilization methods for honey pomelo, listed below for reference by netizens.

       I. Apply heavy base fertilizer for honey pomelo:
More than 90% of honey pomelo is grown on hilly and mountainous land, so the orchard soil is mostly red soil. Red soil is relatively acidic, with a pH value mostly between 4.5-5.5. The orchard soil is strongly acidic with low organic matter content. Therefore, around the time of Lidong to Xiaoxue (November), in combination with soil improvement and hole expansion, apply heavy fruit-harvest fertilizer to restore tree vigor as quickly as possible, promote flower bud differentiation, and accumulate nutrients for fruiting the following year. When expanding holes, apply 8-15 jin of Runtian bio-organic fertilizer, 0.5-1 jin of phosphate fertilizer and an appropriate amount of nitrogen fertilizer per tree. According to the actual situation and tree growth vigor, 0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate can also be used for foliar topdressing, and one spray of 0.2% boric acid to facilitate flower bud differentiation.

        II. Honey pomelo shoot-strengthening fertilizer:
For honey pomelo shoot-strengthening fertilizer, apply a quick-acting fertilizer once in February-March, with 0.5-1 jin each of urea and phosphate fertilizer and 1-2 liang of borax per tree. After spring shoots sprout, 0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate and 0.3% urea can be used for foliar topdressing (spraying) to promote vigorous shoots and flowers. In early and mid-March, 0.3% urea and 0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be used for foliar topdressing respectively.

       III. Honey pomelo fruit-stabilizing fertilizer:
In April-May, fertilizer can be applied as appropriate according to the growth vigor of honey pomelo, with 1-1.5 jin of compound fertilizer applied as topdressing per tree respectively. After mid-April, use 0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate for foliar topdressing. After flower drop, spray once each of 5ppm 2,4-D, 0.5% magnesium sulfate and 300ppm fruit-setting hormone. If drought occurs, irrigate the fruit trees promptly to prevent honey pomelo fruit cracking.

       IV. Honey pomelo fruit-strengthening fertilizer:
In July-August, honey pomelo fruit expands rapidly, and fertilization should focus mainly on organic fertilizers and quick-acting fertilizers. Apply 2-4 jin of Runtian bio-organic fertilizer and 0.6-1 jin of compound fertilizer per tree, and add half a jin of urea for old and weak fruit trees. According to tree vigor, increase the fertilization amount as appropriate when there are many fruits. When fertilizing, generally use the method of opening radial trenches for topdressing, with the drip line of the canopy as the midpoint, trench length of 0.5 m, depth and width of 0.15 m each, and 8-10 trenches per tree. Cover with soil after fertilization, and change positions each time trenches are opened.
