What harm does anthracnose do to loquat? How is loquat anthracnose controlled? Experienced readers are also asked to help share their knowledgeWhen visiting loquat orchards in the countryside, it is common to see loquat trees damaged by anthracnose, so Zhongdi Network has compiled the harm caused by anthracnose to loquat and its control methods, listed in detail below for readers to reference.
The harm of loquat anthracnose:
Loquat anthracnose is a fungal disease that can harm loquat leaves, fruit and seedlings. When anthracnose harms loquat seedlings, it causes large numbers of seedling leaves to wither and drop, and in severe cases the entire seedling dies.
When loquat leaves are harmed by anthracnose, round to nearly round leaf spots form; in the later stage the center of the spot is grayish white with a dark brown edge, 3~7 mm in diameter, and after expansion they can merge with each other into large spots.
After loquat fruit is harmed by anthracnose, round, light brown, water-soaked spots form on the fruit; in the later stage the spots become sunken, and pink sticky grains, which are the conidial masses of the pathogen, grow on the diseased part. Moreover, in the later stage of anthracnose the spots expand very quickly, often causing the whole fruit to turn brown and rot, or the diseased fruit to shrink and become a mummified fruit.
Control methods for loquat anthracnose:
Method 1: When choosing an orchard site, give priority to plots with high, dry terrain, and drainage ditches should be dug well within the orchard.
Method 2: In the early stage of anthracnose occurrence, diseased leaves and fruit should be pruned promptly, mummified fruit cut off, diseased fruit picked off, and all gathered for disposal and deep burial to reduce the source of inoculum.
Method 3: The following agents can be sprayed on loquat trees for control: Bordeaux mixture 1:1:200; 40% Lingfu WP at 1:1000 dilution; 53.8% Keshade 2000 WP at 1:800 dilution.
