Storage and Fresh-keeping Methods and Technical Key Points for Japanese Sansui Pears
Cultivars such as Hosui and Golden Pear have won wide popularity among consumers for their excellent flavor, so in recent years Japanese and Korean superior sand pears have made considerable progress in our country, and fruit output has also risen substantially year by year. However, the flesh of these pears is relatively soft, easily damaged during transport, and because their harvest period is short, their storability is poor, and their sales period is too concentrated, it is difficult to supply the market over the long term. How to store and keep them fresh is therefore particularly important. The author hereby introduces Japan's storage and fresh-keeping methods for Sansui pears to everyone for reference. 1. Harvest maturity and

How to Make Bagged Pears Sweeter? Master These Four Measures
Bagging pears can significantly improve their appearance and marketability, but bagging has a certain effect on the sweetness of pears. The following measures can increase the sugar content of bagged pears. 1. Apply more potassium fertilizer. The amount of farmyard manure should be 2 to 3 times the fruit yield, changing the past practice of 1 kg of fertilizer per 1 kg of fruit, and it should be applied in early autumn after harvest. Control the amount of nitrogen fertilizer, increase the proportion of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, and maintain the application ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers at 1:0.6:1. While fertilizing, pay attention to watering during early spring and autumn droughts, and tree-disk mulching and whole-orchard mulching can also be used to prevent

Storage Characteristics and Harvesting Techniques of Pears
I. Storage Characteristics of Cultivars Pears are relatively easy to store, and their storage characteristics are similar to those of apples, making them an important fruit for large-scale long-term storage in our country. There are many pear cultivars with varying storage tolerance. In terms of pear systems, there are the white pear system, sand pear system, autumn pear system, and European pear system. Most cultivars of the white pear system are easy to store, such as Yali pear, Xuehua pear, Suli pear, Changba pear, Korla fragrant pear, and Qiubai pear, whose flesh is crisp, tender, and juicy and which store well, making them the main storage cultivars in current production. The white pear system's Mili pear, Benli pear, Anli pear, and Hongxiao pear are extremely storage-tolerant, while

Bagged pears have good quality, and managing them well after bag removal is key
In recent years, pear bagging technology has developed rapidly and has played an important role in improving pear fruit quality and economic returns. However, in production, a small number of bagged pear orchards have not achieved the expected results, mainly because the timing of bag removal is not accurately determined and management after bag removal is neglected, rather than poor management before and during bagging. In view of this, bag removal and post-removal management should be strengthened. Timely bag removal: the time to remove fruit bags should be determined according to variety and climatic conditions. In order to prevent obvious fruit dots on the fruit surface, sunburn, fruit dehydration, fruit surface contamination

Giant Octopus Appears Again, Revealing Its Ferocious Face
For octopus enthusiasts, these days are absolutely worth celebrating! Recently, researchers just released footage they had taken of the giant squid (Architeuthis) glowing in the deep sea (see February 27 issue of Science Times, page A2, "Deep-Sea Squid 'Comes to the Surface'"), and now people have captured the first live specimen of an adult giant octopus (Mesonychoteuthis). According to an online report in the American journal Science, a fishing vessel operating in the waters south of New Zealand recently caught

Why is Fengxiang pear hailed as the king of pears?
Fengxiang pear was developed by the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences from a cross of Nijisseiki x Sanhua. It was introduced to our farm's base in 1999. In 2000, 85% of the trees bore fruit, with an average yield of 2.2 kg per tree. By 2002, the yield reached 38.5 kg per tree, with an average of 29 kg per tree and a per-mu yield of 1523 kg, ranking first among the 36 pear varieties at the base. This variety has thick, sturdy branches and vigorous growth. One-year-old branches are yellow, and branches in the 2nd and 3rd years are brown, free of rust spots and glossy. It is resistant to high temperatures, tolerant of poor soil, highly adaptable, bears fruit early, produces abundant pollen, and has a high fruit-setting rate.

Scraping bark from pear trees in winter is the key to growing good pears
The farming proverb says: "If you want to eat good pears, scrape the bark in winter." In the cold winter season, scraping off the old bark from pear trees that have already borne fruit can effectively eliminate the fungal spores of pear scab, ring rot, anthracnose, pear rust and other diseases that remain inside and outside the old cracked bark of pear trees, as well as the eggs of many pear tree pests such as pear psylla, aphids, fruit borers and scale insects, ensuring healthy growth of the pear trees, high quality, high yield and high returns. Scraping the bark must be thorough. When scraping bark from pear trees, you must remove the old cracked bark, rotten disease, pear scab, ring rot, anthracnose, scale insects, pear psylla,

How to store pears in spring? Four methods to help you extend their shelf life
1. Chemical fumigation method. The fumigation method mainly prevents and controls diseases that invade the fruit. First, seal the pears with plastic film, then place a fumigant (such as acetaldehyde) inside the sealed plastic film so that the fumigant concentration inside the plastic film reaches 0.5% and is maintained for 180 minutes, or so that the fumigant concentration inside the plastic film reaches 1% and is maintained for 120 minutes. 2. Medicinal solution soaking method. This method mainly prevents pears from being infected by pathogens after harvest. Soak the pears in a 400-fold dilution of 4% Nongkang 120 fruit tree-specific solution for 50 minutes, then remove and air-dry, then package and store
