  • The impact of fertilizer damage on cotton production cannot be ignored

In recent years, while promoting new cotton varieties and providing technical services in cotton-growing areas, we have frequently encountered problems caused by farmers' mistakes in fertilizer application. First, when preparing soil for cotton nutritional-pot seedling raising, some applied too much farmyard manure or chemical fertilizer to the pot soil, so that after sowing, some cotton seeds rotted or the seedlings died; in some cases, although emergence was fairly uniform, root burn and seedling death followed. Second, after the cotton seedlings emerged in the seedbed, excessive application of water-soluble flush fertilizer scalded and scorched both cotyledons of the cotton seedlings. Third, when applying base fertilizer before transplanting cotton pot seedlings, some broadcast chemical fertilizer into the plow furrow, or applied chemical fertilizer into the pot holes, without separating the pot seedlings' root system from the applied fertilizer with fine soil; after transplanting, the cotton seedling roots came into direct contact with the chemical fertilizer, and the young roots and young stems turned brown or black after fertilizer damage. In mild cases, the cotton seedlings became stunted and did not grow; in severe cases, the young seedlings withered and died. Fourth, during the bud stage, excessive single application of nitrogen fertilizers such as urea or ammonium bicarbonate, or excessive input of high-efficiency multi-element compound fertilizer, with no regard for cost and a blind pursuit of building a high-yielding cotton framework early, resulted in excessive vegetative growth, premature row closure, severe shading in the cotton field, and serious outbreaks of pests such as mirids, causing massive shedding of buds and bolls. This phenomenon was especially common in rainy years. Fifth, during the flowering and boll stage, some rushed to broadcast urea before heavy rain arrived. Urea dissolved very quickly upon contact with rain, and the fertilizer concentration in the cotton field suddenly increased. After the rain, the weather suddenly cleared, cotton leaf transpiration was high, and water in the cotton plant rapidly underwent reverse osmosis and severe water loss, so that the lower stems and leaves of the cotton plant appeared scorched; in severe cases, the entire cotton plant withered and died and could no longer be saved.

  • Pigs' drinking water cannot be ignored; raising pigs well requires attention to proper drinking water

Water is an important substance for the life activities of all animals. Pigs are no exception. In pigs, all life and physiological activities, including the digestion and absorption of nutrients, excretion of waste, blood circulation, respiration, and regulation of body temperature, depend on water. Once a pig's body lacks water, its life and physiological activities will be affected, leading to poor digestion and absorption of pig feed, thicker and more concentrated blood, elevated body temperature, and so on, which reduces feed conversion efficiency, increases feeding costs, and lowers breeding profitability. At the same time, it can also hinder pig growth and development and trigger various diseases. 1. Pig drinking water

  • Why Reasonable Water Intake for Pigs Cannot Be Ignored

    1. The Harms of Insufficient Drinking Water for Pigs Currently, in pig raising, there is a widespread phenomenon of only valuing feeding while neglecting drinking water, not realizing that drinking water for pigs is equally important as feeding, or even more important. The main harms of insufficient drinking water are: 1. Insufficient drinking water leads to an increased incidence of intestinal diseases in pigs. In rural household pig farming, most use the traditional feeding method of supplying water and feed all at once, and between meals, regardless of weather conditions or feed type, no drinking water is provided. After pigs become thirsty due to insufficient drinking water, especially in hot summers, they often drink dirty water and similar things.

  • Five myths about drinking tea that cannot be ignored, severe cases can be fatal

In daily life, many people are used to giving strong tea to someone who is drunk to sober them up, and some people believe that tea can cure "all diseases" and can be drunk without any scruples... But today we want to tell you that all of this is bad for your health and is a misunderstanding about drinking tea. Myth one: Strong tea sobers you up. Some people believe that drinking strong tea after alcohol has a "sobering" effect, but this is wrong. After drinking alcohol, the ethanol in the liquor enters the bloodstream through the gastrointestinal tract, is first converted into acetaldehyde in the liver, then into acetic acid, and then breaks down into carbon dioxide and water that are excreted from the body through the kidneys. But if you drink strong tea after alcohol, the caffeine in the tea

  • Snake Plant Leaves Turning Soft, Wrinkled and Spotty in Early Autumn? These 3 Points Cannot Be Ignored

The snake plant (Sansevieria) is a foliage plant loved by many flower enthusiasts, with leaves growing in clumps and standing upright, thick and leathery, both sides bearing irregular dark green cloud-like horizontal stripes, closely resembling a tiger's tail, and possessing very high ornamental value. As autumn begins and the weather turns cooler, ...

  • Poor rose growth at the end of summer? The importance of pruning cannot be ignored

Qiu Mom really wants to say, summer is finally over, especially when I returned to my small yard during the Mid-Autumn Festival and looked at the roses in the flower field, it was simply unbearable to look at. Actually, they should have been very beautiful in this early autumn, but because of my laziness...

  • Control of corn smut disease cannot be ignored

The symptoms of this disease can occur on all aboveground parts of the corn throughout the entire growth period, and are especially obvious at the tasseling stage. Tumor-like growths of varying sizes develop on the affected parts. Initially, the tumors are covered with a white membrane, which later turns gray and, after drying and cracking, releases black powdery material, namely the spores of the pathogen. On the leaves, bean-sized tumor-like masses are easily produced, while on the tassel...

  • How to prevent and control dead seedlings in garland chrysanthemum? Soil covering treatment cannot be ignored

Scientific workers at the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, isolated a unique antifeedant-active component, chrysanthemum lactone, from the common vegetable garland chrysanthemum (Glebionis coronaria), and for the first time internationally used a new synthetic method to artificially synthesize a batch of chrysanthemum lactone compounds. Tested by South China Agricultural University, an authoritative domestic unit for antifeedant research, this artificial...
